Test Technician - 12 months Contract

We are recruiting a Test Technician to join our Environmental Development Centre at Quatro Park, Basildon. The role supports the delivery of customer test programmes through the preparation, set‑up and operation of test facilities, equipment and instrumentation within a busy, multi‑disciplinary test environment.

You’ll work as part of a wider engineering team, contributing to mechanical build activities, test rig and fixture preparation, and the safe execution of environmental test programmes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the set‑up, execution and clear‑down of environmental tests
  • Prepare test facilities, rigs, jigs and fixtures in line with customer and safety requirements
  • Support mechanical build and assembly activities using hand and machine tools
  • Assist with test data handling and basic documentation
  • Maintain a safe working environment, following QHSE processes and procedures
  • Support ongoing facility and equipment maintenance activities

 

What you'll need

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Hands-on mechanical/electrical aptitude, careful working style, and a strong safety mindset.
  • Full UK Driving licence required
  • Use of Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a test, workshop or mechanical build environment
  • Confident use of hand tools and basic measurement equipment
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including shift working when required

Please note:

  • This is a 12-month contract Inside IR35
  • This role is to be paid up to £24 p/hr inclusive of holiday pay - based on skills and experience.
  • The role is working 39 hours a week
  • Some shift working/overtime maybe required - an allowance will be paid accordingly in line with agency worker regulations
