A Portable Exhaust Gas Analyzer is a compact, mobile measurement system designed to quickly and accurately analyze the composition of exhaust gases emitted by engines, vehicles, or industrial equipment directly at the test site.
It measures the concentration of key exhaust components such as CO (carbon monoxide), CO₂ (carbon dioxide), NOx (nitrogen oxides), HC (hydrocarbons), and O₂ (oxygen).
Unlike stationary analyzers, which are permanently installed in a laboratory or test cell, portable analyzers are lightweight and easily transportable, making them ideal for field testing, on-site diagnostics, and maintenance checks. They enable fast measurements under real-world conditions, providing flexibility and efficiency for engineers and technicians.
Typical applications include vehicle emission testing in the field, service and maintenance checks of combustion engines, verification of aftertreatment systems, and temporary testing setups in R&D or production environments.
Portable Exhaust Gas Analyzers operate by sampling the exhaust gas directly from the source, conditioning it as needed, and measuring gas concentrations using technologies such as NDIR (non-dispersive infrared), electrochemical sensors, CLD (chemiluminescence detection) or HORIBA’s next-generation infrared gas analysis technology IRLAM™.
