HORIBA Awarded “2012 Hardware Innovation of the Year Award” for MEXA-ONE Design

"Darren Andrews, Sales and Marketing Director for The Americas, and Ken Mitera, General Manager for The Americas, accept the award on behalf of the global organization"

HORIBA’s new MEXA-ONE Motor Exhaust Gas Analyzer has been named “Hardware Innovation of The Year, 2012” by Automotive Testing Technology International Magazine (ATTI). ATTI also announced that the company has been short listed for the prestigious “Company of The Year” award.

MEXA-ONE is the latest evolution in exhaust analyzers from the long-standing leader in emissions testing technology.  A variety of enhancements have been made to the system, released on the footsteps of the company’s highly successful MEXA 7000 series. These include: A more robust design, enhanced sample handing, and maximum system availability via a front-access door. In addition, MEXA-ONE features a fully-integrated operating platform. These refinements result in shorter test times, significant consumable reductions, and improved overall test efficiency.

"We are honored to receive an award for the hardware design of the new MEXA-ONE. This system is the result of 50 years of experience and partnership with industry, academia and regulatory bodies. Since HORIBA produced the first MEXA system in 1964, we have continued to establish new standards for vehicle emissions analysis and a healthier environment”, said Ken Mitera, General Manager of HORIBA ATS, The Americas , who accepted the award on behalf of the global organization (headquartered in Kyoto, Japan).

The jury appointed by ATTI was composed of top-tier automotive test experts and high-caliber industry journalists. The team’s task was to ‘highlight and reward the efforts of individuals and companies who have made a difference in the world of vehicle development during 2012’.

The 2012 ATTI Awards consist of six categories: Engine Test Facility of the Year; Crash Test Facility of the Year; Proving Ground of the Year; CAE Innovation of the Year; Hardware Innovation of the Year; and Person of the Year. All category winners are put forward for the overall Company of the Year prize. All companies involved in automotive development and testing are considered and decisions are based on extensive combined experience of automotive test and development as well as subjective performance.
