Hydration Effect of Moisturizing Cream on Stratum Corneum Thickness using IN VIVO RAMAN ANALYZER RZ-660

Hydration Effect of Moisturizing Cream on Stratum Corneum Thickness using IN VIVO RAMAN ANALYZER RZ-660

Stratum corneum thickness before and after cream application. Data before application (Untreated) and 1hour after application (Treated) are shown for Volunteer 1 in purple and Volunteer 2 in magenta.

To evaluate the in vivo effect of a moisturizing cream on the stratum corneum, in vivo Raman spectroscopy was used to generate depth-resolved quantitative profiles of water content in human skin. This label-free and non-destructive approach enables precise monitoring of hydration changes across the stratum corneum. By providing spatially resolved molecular information, Raman spectroscopy allows a detailed assessment of skin barrier function and the dynamics of water distribution after topical application. This study demonstrates the potential of Raman-based profiling as a powerful and objective tool for evaluating cosmetic efficacy and moisturizing performance in vivo, offering fast and reliable insights for dermatological and cosmetic research.
