As a team of experts in analytical and measuring instruments that measures water and liquids, at HORIBA Advanced Techno, we have been working to solve social issues through our own technologies and products. To achieve this, we will maximize three values.
Creating an environment where everyone has access to safe water and improving the water environment cannot be possible without an accurate understanding of water conditions. Through our core business of water and liquid measurement, at HORIBA Advanced Techno we are committed to actively promoting the widespread use of water quality meters and providing more people around the world with the opportunity to measure. Also, in order to maintain a healthy water environment and contribute to a recycling-oriented society, it is essential to work towards reducing global warming. We are aware that our business activities can be a burden on the environment, thus we aim to achieve carbon neutrality by focusing on reducing CO2 emissions throughout the product life cycle (PLC), from product development, production, distribution, sales, service, and disposal.*1

In this respect, as responding to climate change is one of our key management issues, we set our goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 in our Mid-Long Term management plan MLMAP2028.

To protect the water environment in Kuala Lumpur, HORIBA water quality meters are installed in the city’s water reservoirs and at the end of water supply pipes, providing the community with safe access. Our work is not simply to install the equipment but also to ensure that water quality meters operate stably over the long term, so that the system that delivers safe and secure water to local residents takes root.

Protecting water for daily life ~ Water quality monitoring in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
We are reviewing the packaging materials of our products so that we can manufacture them in an environmentally friendly way. For our compact water quality meter series shipped in large quantities, we improved the packaging design to significantly reduce the use of paper and plastic resources. This has also lessened the burden on our customers of sorting and disposing waste after the product is delivered.

Taking on environmentally friendly manufacturing – LAQUAtwin improvement project
Water is a resource that can easily become polluted. Various efforts are being made to maintain healthy water resources, like measuring water quality, and reusing and purifying water. As technological and economic developments continue to damage water environments, we can no longer take it for granted that in the future, the world will be a place where children can drink safe and secure water. We believe that our mission is to convey to the world the value of water, the correct way to interact with water, and the importance of "measuring" water and liquids. At the same time, in order to protect the lives of people in the future, we will get more people to join us in exploring the value of water and conservation of resources, through educational activities and the cooperation of research and development institutions.

Wanting to help students and children get a hands on understanding of the importance of water and the fun of science through the process of measuring, HORIBA Advanced Techno employees head out to various locations to offer outreach seminars to give them the experience by using instruments used in the real world
Through water and liquid measurement, HORIBA Advanced Techno aims to create a society where everyone in the world has access to safe and secure water. In order to be a company that takes on challenges together with water, with an eye on the water environment of the future, we need a flexible attitude that allows us to quickly identify social issues in the world and the ability to take action to solve them.

Sustainability Promotion Project – Project Colors
Project Colors is a project within our company that was created as a starting place to think about how we can contribute to the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Employees from various departments started gathering in 2020 to communicate beyond their scope of work and together, put into action things that they had been wanting to do.
Members with a strong interest in SDGs reach beyond the boundaries of their departments to freely share ideas based on their own interests and expertise, and involve the people around them in activities.

Creating new social contribution activities
Sustainability Promotion Project – Project Colors
In 2022 HORIBA Advanced Techno launched a Sustainability Promotion Office where we listened to the voices of employees to establish our corporate value and sustainability management goals. In 2023, we set up a Sustainability Committee to achieve these goals and are now promoting efforts throughout the company.
The Sustainability Committee appoints directors, heads of departments, and members of the Sustainability Promotion Office as members to discuss and deliberate sustainability strategies, report on activities, and materiality (important issues). The top-down approach from the directors and the bottom-up approach from the departments are intertwined, and the cross-divisional collaboration is used to promote sustainability activities toward achieving our goals.
