Fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) is a powerful technique for studying molecular interactions in biological and material sciences. This application note describes FLIM technology and its implementation using HORIBA's FLIMera and InverTau instruments. These instruments, based on time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC), enhance fluorescence microscopy by providing an additional contrast mechanism based on fluorescence lifetime. The principles of FLIM, the instrumentation, and examples of its application are presented.
