High-Throughput Quantification of Pharmaceutical Powder Blends Using Raman Spectroscopy and Chemometrics - Illustration

This application note demonstrates the use of Raman spectroscopy for high-throughput quantitative analysis of pharmaceutical powder blends. Conducted in collaboration with Zentiva, the study focuses on a macro-scale Raman approach to quantify sugar-based excipients, specifically starch and lactose, within blended powder mixtures. Raman measurements were combined with chemometric modeling to extract quantitative compositional information from complex spectral data. This non-destructive methodology supports rapid and reliable characterization of powder blends, contributing to improved process control and quality assurance in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
