Micro Dilution Tunnel for Particulate-Matter Sampling

Accurate particulate-matter measurement requires representative exhaust sampling, precise dilution control and consistent flow through the particulate filters—even when exhaust flow changes rapidly during transient testing.

The MDLT-ONE is a partial-flow dilution tunnel designed to collect particulate matter from engine and vehicle exhaust. It extracts a representative portion of the total exhaust, mixes it with clean air that has passed through a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter, and controls the diluted-gas flow through particulate filters for gravimetric PM measurement.

High-precision venturi flow meters and a piezo-actuated valve support fast, accurate flow control. The heated filter system and flow-control components are integrated into a compact cabinet, helping laboratories reduce equipment footprint while supporting flexible installation.

As part of HORIBA ONE PLATFORM, the MDLT-ONE can be operated alongside compatible HORIBA emissions-measurement systems through a consistent interface and integrated test-cell environment.

Accurate Partial-Flow Dilution

The MDLT-ONE samples a controlled portion of the total exhaust flow instead of processing the complete exhaust volume.

Fast Control During Transient Testing

Rapid changes in engine operation can produce equally rapid changes in exhaust flow. The MDLT-ONE combines high-precision venturi flow measurement with a piezo-actuated valve to respond to these changing conditions.

Flow-Weighted Sampling

Flow-weighted sampling allows particulate matter from multiple phases of an FTP test to be collected on a single filter.
