Inside Sales Engineer

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The intention of this position is to ensure effective and efficient sales communication, lead about, This position intends and revenue generation, and support all areas of domestic sales growth.  The domestic sales specialist at level 1 will support and interface with the field sales team and ensure proper communication and sales processes.   Working from the office (Piscataway, NJ) while potentially transitioning into remote, the Sales Engineer will assist the management and field sales teams in every aspect of the relationship between HORIBA Scientific and our customers.  The individual will learn our products, markets, the scientific industry, and the sales process and skills required to develop and close orders. Identifying the specific needs of customers and how HORIBA Scientifics’ products address those needs. Finally, this is an opportunity for growth of the Sales Specialist to acquire their own Sales Territory 

 

ESSENTIAL INSIDE SALES FUNCTIONS: 

  • Utilize Salesforce and other company resources to solicit new and existing business and leads.
  • Identify potentially new accounts online, new academic grants, and government funding.
  • Responsible for making 10-20 calls per day as part of metrics to grow inside sales business.  
  • Capturing revenue through upselling and cross-selling accessories, services, contracts and more to existing customers through ServiceMax.   This is to be done via cold calls, prospecting, and emails, etc.
  • Responsible for inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails 
  • Support field sales when quoting non-standard products.   Liaise between sales and applications scientists/engineers to make sure all the necessary components are quoted.
  • Responsible for Customer satisfaction through regular contact/updates and promoting the HORIBA brand by insuring HORIBA products are used regularly and effectively.
  • Provide feedback to sales, applications, marketing, manufacturing, and management concerning customer satisfaction and opinion on our products and services
  • Telephone follow-up for field sales on leads that have gone cold.
  • Mining the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database for past prospects that dropped out of the sales pipeline.
  • CRM maintenance through the support of the Salesforce Coordinator and Marketing Manager. 
  • Database (CRM) management
  • Assists field sales engineers with a prospect/customer visit to a HORIBA facility as needed.
  • Assists PLM’s and applications with in-house (e.g., Raman Boot Camp) and outside events (e.g., workshops/seminars at customer sites)
  • Performs other duties as required by management.
  • Acts as pre-sales liaison between field sales and sales administration, applications, manufacturing, service, and all other departments.
  • Day-to-day technical support of the domestic sales administration team.
  • Assists with lead analysis, account management, sales strategy, sales forecasts, and business reporting.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelors in a Science degree including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, chemical, mechanical or materials science engineering.

  • Technical aptitude in the scientific instrument industry

 

EXPERIENCE IS NOT REQUIRED.

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Interfaces with management, field sales, prospects, customers, production, customer service, and sales administration team.

 

DECISION-MAKING AND PROBLEM-SOLVING:

  • Consults applications scientists and R&D to properly support sales engineers and understand customer applications.  
  • In consultation with the sales staff and other departments, make decisions about opinions, providing proper information on customer requirements, opinions, satisfaction, and reporting. 
  • Prioritizes responses to customer and manufacturing representative inquiries.
