HORIBA is recruiting for a Principal Engineer for Alternative Energy based out of our Ann Arbor, MI office. This position will develop and implement engineering solutions for the organization and manage technical projects in support of the global HORIBA strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions for fuel cell and electrolyzer test systems.
  • Provides technical and industry expertise and guidance to an engineering team in the general areas of fuel cell and electrolyzer technologies and test system design of these technologies.
  • Serves as a mentor and fosters internal growth as it relates to engineering capabilities within the organization. Monitors and assesses the performance of the alternative energy engineering team members.
  • Coordinates with other functional areas and stakeholders to ensure successful completion of initiatives and projects.
  • Researches and recommends new technologies, processes, and procedures as well as provides operational and application input for the development of hardware, software, and system controls. Analyzes engineering challenges and develops Solutions.
  • Support other functions in HORIBA such as sales, marketing, and manufacturing, with subject matter & expertise to further business growth.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline such as chemistry, chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering or a related subject; or equivalent experience. An advanced degree (technical Masters and/or MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in fuel cell and/or electrolyzer development and/or test environment.
  • Demonstrated success designing test systems and leading a team.
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit, knows how to deliver, and is deeply technical and highly innovative.
  • Ability to read & interpret electrical, mechanical and other engineering drawings as well as other technical information. 
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner in both written and verbal forms at a wide range level both technical and executive levels.
  • Travel is required.

 

Knowledge Of:

  • Fuel cell and electrolyzer system testing and test procedures.
  • Engineering principles and best practices.
  • Fuel cell and electrolyzer test system design and engineering, data acquisition and control systems, test stand power engineering, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including regulators, pumps, solenoid valves, pressure transducers, heat exchangers and other related components.
