The Dr. Masao Horiba's Award for Research in Analysis and Measurement Technology Announcement of Inaugural Prizewinners

The Dr. Masao Horiba's Award was established in May 2004 to encourage research in the field of analysis and measurement technology by those working in universities and public research institutes both in Japan and overseas. HORIBA, Ltd. is delighted to announce the inaugural prizewinners. This year's theme for selection was pH measurement, a field which is closely linked with the founding of HORIBA, Ltd. Applications were invited from May to July 2004, and a total of 16 applications were received from Japan and abroad. After considering the content of the applications and the future research potential of the topics covered, a committee including leading authorities on pH measurement selected the three prizewinners listed below. An award ceremony and panel discussion featuring the prizewinners and academics from the field will be held on October 18, 2004, at the Shiran Kaikan, Kyoto University.
