Smart Innovation Energy Sees the Green Future

Science and Technology is not only about driving the future, but also about lighting up our lives. The Family Day event with the theme of "Smart Innovation Energy Sees the Green Future" was successfully held at HORIBA C-CUBE, the base for HORIBA Instruments (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. on August, 2025. This is a warm journey that closely connects "Our Future" and "Our Family". This event attracted more than 140 people from 46 groups of employees and families from  HORIBA Group Companies in China to participate in a green technology journey, allowing everyone to experience the importance of environment and energy through immersive experience and interactive practice.

The main color scheme at the event site is green, and the leaf sign-in and green decoration echo the theme of "green energy", creating an atmosphere of integration of nature and technology.

At the official start of the event, Yuko Kimura, President of HORIBA (China) Trading Co., Ltd., delivered a welcome speech. She said that HORIBA has always adhered to the mission of "contributing to society through science and technology", and this family day focused on the theme of energy and the environment, not only allowing employees' families to get closer to the enterprise and understand the direction of green development, but also hoped to sow the seeds of "technology" in the hearts of children through fun experiences. Q&A sessions were also set up on site, allowing children to learn about the company's business through Joy and Fun.

This Family Day has designed four major sections: "Energy Exploration", "Environmental Purification", "Dynamic Sports" and "Achievement Interaction", combining knowledge and practicality so that families can feel the power of science and technology in personal experience and establish environmental awareness.
 

In the Automotive Lab, children first learn about "what hydrogen energy is" and "how to generate power". Then the staff demonstrated the operating principle of the hydrogen powered car: water is processed by technology to generate hydrogen energy, which supplies energy to the car and drives it forward. The children were amazed gathered around the track and intuitively felt the wonder of "turning water into energy".

Family members also participate in DIY assembly of energy vehicles together. At first, there were small incidents such as parts being installed incorrectly and the frame being loosely connected, but through experimentation and collaboration, everyone ultimately completed the work.
After assembly, the children drove the small car on the track and personally experienced the sense of achievement brought by their labor. At the same time, young children participate in the "turning waste into treasure" activity, using discarded water bottles and colored pens to create environmentally friendly decorations as anti-collision belts for cars, understanding the significance of recycling.

In Analytical Solution Plaza, children become little environmental workers. In the wastewater purification process, everyone uses quartz sand, activated carbon and filter cotton to build a purification device in layers, and the simulated wastewater will be filtered layer by layer to witness the sewage gradually becoming clear. The staff used this opportunity to explain the principles of wastewater treatment plants and the importance of water conservation, making children aware that protecting water resources should start from around them. There was also a scientific handicraft area on site for children to make small models with their own hands. In the environmental laboratory, children experienced water quality testing, using test strips to measure the pH value of purified water, and also learned about various indicators of water quality monitoring, deeply experiencing the combination of science and environmental protection.
In addition, the garbage classification interactive game became another highlight. The children held cards with garbage patterns and placed them in the corresponding garbage bins. The staff promptly corrected and explained the classification criteria. Many children said they want to go home to be "little supervisors of garbage classification".

To enhance the sports experience, fun projects such as archery, surfing simulation, hand speed challenge, and F1 driver competition are also set up. The most popular game among them is the "super thigh": Participants step on the bicycle pedal to drive the generator, and the light bulb lights up accordingly. The faster they step on it, the brighter it becomes. Children and parents have participated in the game "competition" to understand the principle of "energy conversion" in sports. The LEGO area provides a safe and fun hands-on space for children of all ages to get themselves involved in the activity.

At the end of the event, the 'Little Auction' brought the atmosphere to a climax. In the previous experience session, the "energy stones" obtained by the children became the exclusive currency for winning prizes at the auction.

The auction items include toys and popular science books brought by employees' families, conveying the concept of "sharing and mutual assistance". The most eye-catching auction item was a DIY energy car model made by children, which was placed in the center of the auction stand as the "ultimate prize". After several rounds of bidding, the final bid was jointly won by three groups of families, and Deputy General Manager Tomoaki Maeyama took a group photo with the little buyers together, pushing the onsite atmosphere into a warm and happy moment.

Children can also exchange energy stones for corresponding prizes. After the auction, Li Yanping, the General Manager of the Admin and HR Department of HORIBA INSTRUMENTS (SHANGHAI) CO., LTD, presented commemorative certificates to the young hosts to encourage their confident performance.

The "Smart Innovation Energy Sees the Green Future" Family Day is not only an event for parents and children to have fun together, but also an important carrier for HORIBA to convey its corporate philosophy.
May today's "little adventurers" remember the green awareness and exploration enthusiasm in their activities - in the future, they will explore the world with curious eyes, protect the earth with a sense of responsibility, walk with "green" and "innovation" on the road to their dreams, and grow into new era ambassadors who possess both scientific literacy and environmental awareness.
